General research assistance
Upon request, staff can assist you with:
- Using UC Library Search to research a topic.
- Accessing databases and e-journals.
- Determining library holdings and locations from extensive bibliographies.
- Reading call numbers.
- Oral or written directions to help you locate library materials.
Physical disabilities
Upon request, staff can assist you with:
- Using UC Library Search to research a topic.
- Pulling books from stacks and shelves (may be on a delayed basis).
- Extending loan periods or modifying rules (when possible).
- Calling another library to confirm the availability of resources.
Accessible workstations
All libraries have at least one wheelchair accessible workstation.
Accessible workstations with special software and peripherals are located in the following spaces:
- Bioscience, Natural Resources & Public Health Library
- East Asian Library (Floor 3)
- Environmental Design Library
- Moffitt Library
Proxy borrower cards
UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff with a mobility disability may be eligible for a proxy borrower card, which allows a specified friend or attendant to borrow library materials for you.
- Apply for a proxy borrower card via the proxy card application form.
- Pick up the proxy borrower card at the Privileges Desk (Doe Library, Floor 1).
