What are the libraries’ hours, and what services are available?
The UC Berkeley Library has announced its plans for the 2022-23 academic year, which includes reopening Moffitt Library and adjusting hours and services at some locations. Learn more about how you can use the libraries.
The Copy Center and the Student Tech Help Desk have returned to Moffitt after temporarily relocating while the library was undergoing seismic upgrades. The Media Resources Center and the Makerspace will remain in 190 Doe Library.

Do I need to wear a face covering in the libraries?
Face coverings are strongly recommended, but not required, indoors — regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status. Learn more about UC Berkeley’s face covering requirements.
What else do I need to know about visiting the libraries?
Hours are subject to change on short notice throughout the year, so please check before visiting.
Please make sure you are not experiencing symptoms when entering a library location. If you are feeling ill, please stay home, and return when you are feeling better. While you’re in the libraries, please follow the code of conduct.
How can I get research help?

Can you help me get the materials I need for classes?
Yes. The Library is continuing its popular e-reserves program, which provides students with free digital versions of many of the materials — articles, books, and videos — they need for their classes. If your instructor has requested e-reserves, you will find the links on your class bCourses site.

How do I handle my books coming due?
Faculty, students, staff, postdocs, and visiting scholars: Items checked out before July 27, 2021 — which marked the launch of UC Library Search, the University of California’s all-in-one platform for discovery — cannot be automatically renewed by the new system. These items, however, can be manually renewed online by the user. If the maximum renewal period (total amount of time for a loan) has been reached, users must come to the Library to return the items or check them out again. The maximum renewal periods are 48 months for faculty/academic staff and 33 months for students, staff, postdocs, and visiting scholars. Users will receive a courtesy notice four days before an item’s due date, letting them know the item is almost due and needs to be renewed (if possible) or returned.
Items checked out after the July 27, 2021, launch of UC Library Search will be renewed automatically four days before the due date unless the maximum renewal period has been reached or the items have been recalled.
Community users, such as alumni and California residents: Materials will not be renewed automatically, and must be renewed online or in person. Users will receive a courtesy notice regarding renewal or return requirements four days before an item’s due date.
All users: If you are ready to return the items, you can use book returns at any campus library. The book return on the south side of Doe Library is accessible by car. Items may also be returned in person to staff at any circulation desk. Learn more about returning materials.
